GAME PLAN

STEP ONE:

PLAN AHEAD

Running a pro-life student organization is a lot of work & takes long-term dedication. However, it is the only thing that will make a difference at your high school.

As you begin this process, we recommend you take some time to check out our high school resources. You can see what meetings, outreach, and community building will look like with the help of PLM.

These will help you start thinking about how you can effectively reach your peers. Consider possible places where you could hold meetings and do outreach using the different displays available.

STEP TWO:

ALL THE DETAILS

Find out what your school requires & will allow.

Get online or call your school's Student Life department. Typically, you will need a constitution, bylaws, a faculty advisor, and a minimum membership number. Don’t stress: PLM can help you find each of these items.

Next, you'll need to know what sorts of activities your school will allow you to do: Can you chalk on campus, set up a table, reserve a meeting room, and hold events? What are the requirements to do so? Create a document with answers to these questions, so that you can refer to them easily.

STEP THREE:

FIND YOUR PEOPLE

Begin gathering a team & delegating tasks.

Start with friends and people in your classes, and find a teacher who would be willing to support the group. You can also reach out to like-minded student organizations to see if any of their members would be interested in joining your group. Focus on finding friends who are responsible, dependable, and can help take on a leadership role for your group, but let students know that they aren't required to take on responsibilities in order to join the group.

Once you've assembled a team, you should begin delegating tasks. We have resources for each role's responsibilities and tasks, but feel free to adapt as needed.

STEP FOUR:

THE FUN BEGINS

Reach out to Protect Life Michigan!

Email us to schedule a zoom call or in-person meeting with one of our team members. We'll sit down with you and your leadership team to help plan out a strategic and effective game plan for the semester. This will take a lot of the leg work off your plate and ensure that you're focusing on the right areas to make the biggest impact!

In the email, introduce yourself, your school, and when you would be available to meet. You can also see our sample Semester Roadmap to get an idea of what we'll be planning together.

STEP FIVE:

GET OUT THERE

Now you are ready to go out  & share the pro-life message. Remember, we are always available if you need help!

It is important to expand your group so that you can have a long-lasting effect on your school. Start by having an awesome beginning to your fall semester! Find new, young students to build up the group and be consistent with meetings and outreach to ensure the group stays alive.
